2 Berrow would not leave Bonnie Parker alone at the Tourist Camp and that Clyde Barrow wes et the camp when Bonnie Parker was treated by Dr. E, H, Stevenson of Fort Smith, which was on the day that Humphrey was killed, The unidentified man who accompanied Buck Barrow in the Fayetteville holdup, ete., is believed to be Hubert Bleigh and it is on this theory that Bleigh is being held at the present time, However, none of the State's witnesses have been able to positively identify Bleigh, merely stating that he looks a lot like Buck Barrow's associates Sheriff Mexey stated that the State's evidence at the present time is not sufficient to convict Bleigh, He feels that a trial and acquittel of Bleigh will injure the State's case against the proper defendant, when and if apprehended, and therefore, unless additional evidence is discovered, Bleigh will be discharged - from the mrder charge at the preliminary hearing which is scheduled for Thursday, August 10, 1933, At that time, Bleigh will be turned over to whatever authorities went him, although Sheriff Maxey stated that no detainers have been filed and he has only received an oral report that Bleigh is wanted by Special Agents of the Frisco Railroad for box car thefts, Sheriff Maxey further advised that he has questioned both Buck Barrow and Blanche Caldwell and they both deny that Bleigh was the one with Buck Barrow at the time of the commission of instant crimes, ‘They say that the man who was with Buck Barrow was known to them as Jack Sherman who had served time in the Texas State Penitentiery. Sheriff Maxey is now directing his attention to identifying and lo- cating Jack Sherman. It is probable, however, that Jack Sherman is a fictitious Person concocted in the minds of Buck Barrow and Blanche Caldwell to protect Hubert Bleigh in this case, In conclusion, Sheriff Maxey stated that he has received no information as to the whereabouts of Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, and as a matter of fact, he is no longer seeking information as he considers thet they have been eliminated from the crimes cammitted in his county. Deputy Sheriff Ray William, son of Sheriff John B. Williams, Fort Smith, Arkansas, advised that his office was interested in this case solely to help out the Sheriff at Van Buren, Arkansas; that no further word has been received concern= ing Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, Mr. James Monroe Harvey, Weldron, Arkansas, advised that Arkanses Lice ense No» 61-152 which was stolen from 2 1931 Plymouth Coupe, Motor PB 33251, was the property of his son, James Meurice Harvey, who was visiting at Little Rock, Arke at the time of Agent's investigation at Waldron, Mr. Harvey, Sr. reported that his son had had two punctures one night about three miles out of Waldron, that he had left his car there for the night and upon returning for it on the following morning, he found that the tags had been stolen. He has no idea, whatever, as to the iden- tity of the person or persons who stole these tags. Mr. Harvey, Sr», was unable to recall the exact date of instant theft, steting thet it happened about two or three months ago. .
