None of the officers went in pursuit of them that nights The following day Agents Turrou and Brantley went with some officers and searched tho surrounding country into which the gang ms said to have gone that night. It was found where they had beon. They had tire trouble, They inquired at two farm houses for a pump and a jack and finally obtained the same and repaired their tires, Tho gang could not be located. Deputy Sheriffs later found another spot that had been cecupied by the gang that night, and a woman's dress bloodscaked was found. From the best that could be learned these persons had headed north, They were traveling in a Ford Y8 Sedan with red wheelse One of the wheels had been driven so much with a flat tire that it was Ddeyond repair, and was left by the gang. This we recovered and taken to the Sheriff's office at Platte City. During the aftornoon of August 19th there ms received at the Sheriff's office a telephone call from the Sheriff at Mt. Ayr, Iowa, to the effect that some persons had been seen in that vicinity and were burning some clothing, and their actions appeared suspiciouse Immediately “por receipt of the fcregoing informetion the Keneas City Burem Office contacted Park Findley, of the State Bureau of Investigation of Iowa, and requested him to put this information, and the best descriptions @veilable of these persons, upon the radio, which was done. The Sheriff and the County Prosecutor at Platte City atated +hat they did not know who was in the cabin prior to the time that they rented it and did not know until sometime thereafter, or did not even suspect that it was the Barrow gange Photographs of the Berrows were presented to the persons at the Tourist camp and to the Sheriff's offices As above stated, Marvin Barrow’s wife wes identified as the woman who got the meals, ani Hubert Bleigh was iden- tified as the person who went into the drug store at Platte City. There was no question, as this report will show, as to the identify of the persons in the cabins at Plette Citye As observed from the report of Special Agent 0. Re Davis, San Antonio, dated 7927-1933, Colt 45 Automatics, numbers 588676, 575279, 527651, and 615565, have been identified as having been stolen from the Bnid, Oklahom, Armoury on July 7, 1955.
