-l2- and during the conversation it was indicated that possibly this Herbert Blythe might be identical with Kubert Bleigh, alleged companion of the Barrow Brothers, Mre Blake stated that he would definitely ascertein whether Blythe wie Bleigh and subsequently informed the writer by telephone that it was Hubert Bleigh, sompanion of the Barrows who had been arrested, Mrs Blake desired to be in- formed as to whethor Bleigh is wanted for the killings in Joplin, and whether he is wanted in connection with the shooting at Platte City. The writer con- tected Clesyinger, at Platte City, who advised that he does want Bleigh for participation in the shooting thore. Ls Ds Rice, County Prosseutor of Newton County, Neosho, Missouri (the killing of the officers in Joplin on April 3rd ocourred in Newton County) wes contacted by telephone and he advised that he is not in possession of any evidence connecting Bleigh with the murder of the Joplin officers, and therefore doos not want him. He states he only wants the two Barrow Brothers in connection with this mtter. On July 25, 1935, Chief of Police Nicholson, of Junction City, Kansas, called the Bureau Office, and the writer talked to him, Nicholson Stated that Ollie Carlson, a guard at the Central National Bank, of Junction City, on that date, saw e Ford or Chevrolet, now coups, containing three men pass through Junction City at a rapid rate of speod headed south on highway 77, which goes to Herington, Kunsas, and branches off into mother road, and on this route one can reach Wichita. Nicholson said one man was the rumble seat and that two men were in the front seet and that one of wen in the front seat had « machine gun in his lap. Pad Nicholson stated he was unable to obtain any description of or the license number of the car, but thet he thought it might te of the Barrow gang, for which reason he notified this office. In a letter from the Dallas office dated July 19th reference is made to 1935 Kansas license number 2-1514, having been issued for a Ford Sedan, to Claude Barrett, Generel Delivery, Wichita, Kansas. Agent Calhoun ‘ of the Kansas City Bureeu office conducted investigation at Wichita but was J unable to learn anything of the identity of any Claude Barrett. = On July 28, 1935, u telegram ms received from the Salt Lake City Office in which it wes stated that the United Press at Salt Lake City j had received a message from Iowa State Police that Bonnie Parker was supposed %o be in custody im a Denver, Colorado Hospital, and that verification thereof was sought as the Denver Police had conducted investigation and failed to Locate Bonnie Parker in any hospital there.
