The Special Agent in Charge (SAC) or, in the case of the New York, Washington,
and Los Angeles Ficid Offices, the Assistant Director in Charge (ADIC), 1s
ultimately responsible for the daily operation of the FiGs.
Those assigned to the FIGs coordinate, manage, and perform intelligence
functions Accordingly, they receive performance-related oversight and direction
from the FIG chain of command. Special Agents assigned to the PIG are rated by
the FIG Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) and reviewed by the Assistant Special
Agent in Charge (ASAC) for Intelligence. Analysts are rated by the PIG
Supervisory Intelligence Analyst (SEA) and reviewsd by the FIGSSA. Ifa Hild
office does not have an SLA, the SSA becomes the rating official for th

Response:
As of 5/18/04, 49 of the FIGs have reports officers on board. There are currently
58 active reports officers on board across these 49 field offices. The FBI has a
funded staffing level of 81 reports officers for FBI field offices, and the selection
and background investigation process to fill the 25 nnenctumbered positions is m
progress In the field offices in which no reports officer is currently assigned, FBI
analysts are performing the reports officer dimcnon and will continues to do so
wmitil reports officers are brought on board
3. How many reports officers are on board across the FBI (please include a breakdown by
field office and Headquarters)?
Response:
There ere 44 reports officers assigned to FBIHQ; 24m CTD, 9 in OL, and 11 in
the Counterintelligence Division. Currently 36 reports officers are on board si
field offices.
4. Do the FIGs have access to national intelligence, or only that which is collected locally
by the FBI? What is the relationship between FIGs and analysts at FBI Headquarters?
Response:
Yes, FiGs have access to nationa. intelligence in a variety af ways, including
Haison with memibers of the USIC, established networks with the FBI's state,
