Abraham Zwillman On December 1, 1926, under the name of George Long, Zwillmwan was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, Judge Boettner, of the Pirst Criminal Court District, en Pebrusry 10, 1927, suspended the sentence. Qn June 6, 1927, he was arrested under the neme of "Longy" Zwillman end charged with atrocious essault end battery, and on July 8, 1927, Judge Howe, of the First Criminal Court District, reported the coupleint withdrew by the complainant. On March 6;,1928, under the name of Abe Zwillman, he was arrested and charged with atrocious assault and battery, and on March 16, 1928, the complaint was withdrawn by complainant 4 before Judge Howe, On the date Zvillwan was cited in contenpt ef court, William A. Wachenfeld, Prosecutor of Essex County, New Jersey, and Leon V. Kapp, his assistant, hed interviews with Agants and Assistant United States Attorneys in New York City at which time they claimed they had information of interest to the Governmat in connection with mion activities. There was no epparent Federal violation in the information they gave. After the conference, Wachenfeld stated that he would eppreciate any information uncovered before the Federal Grand Jury as to Abner Zwillman and Willie Moretti whom he mentioned as two of his "headaches" in New Jersey. Wachenfeld was Zwillmants attormey prior te his appointment es prosecutor. . The "Newark Evening News" of January 15, 19.0, j reported thet the Federal Penitentiary sentence of six months . |. against Abner Zwillman, Newark Third Werd figure, was reversed ‘Es on that day on @ unénimous opinion issued by the United States Ri \ Cireult Court of Appeals.
