The attention of the Chicago Office is drawn to the magazine
Digest* for the month of Auguet, on Page 21 of which
appears the article “Scarface Rules Again" by VICTOR GRANT. This «ticle
in some detail deals with the Capga Case. also, the attention of the
Chicago Office is directed to “Life™ Magazine, the issue of way 15, 1944,
entitled “Gangland stirs Again”. This artiale
as the one referred to in the "Magazine Digest” and the possibility
exists that both of them may have as their original informant JAMES RAGEN,
sr.
In letter to the Bureau dated July 26, 1946 the Chicago Office
asked the Los Angeles Office, among others, to determine whether any y
individuals had departed from thia area for New York, where an anticipated
meeting of various big-time hoodluns was to be held. The informants of
this Field Division have been unable to develop facts indicating that
persons tied in with this enterprise left Los Angeles for New York at such
a time.
