QO MEMO., SAC: RE: BENJAMIN “BUGS” SIEGEL, with aliases MISCELLANEOUS; INFORMATION CONCERNING~ CRIME SURVEY On September 17, 1946, the writer checked Local Draft Board #218, 1917 Westwood Boulevard, and examined the file of SIEGEL, their serial no. 2853, Order no. 2427-A, in his occupational questionnaire, dated August 6, 19l@. He gave the duties of his present job as "Sporting Ventures--iagering.” He stated thet he was self-employed and in that blank entitled "Address of Place of Work," SIEGEL put "None--oontinuously traveling to various sports events.” Under the title of "Job for which you will be best fitted," he put down "Administrative Official" and in that blank, stating "Uuties of job for which you are best fitted," he wrote in "Supervision--Personnel.” As the "Job for which you are next best fitted,” the subject wrote "None.* He showed his education as eight years of grammar school, married, two children under eighteen years of age, and had three dependents including the above two children and supported two other people. On arch 10, 1942, SIEGEL wrote to the Board, asking permission to go to Mexico City March 13, 1912 "for about fifteen days for personal “business. On Maroh 23, 1942, SIEGEL wrote the draft board that "I, BENJAMIN SIEGEL, of 250 Delfern Drive, West Los Angeles, returned to Los Angeles, Sunday, March 22nd, from Mexico " City." i the Board sent the subject an order to report for pre-~induotion physical examination on February 5, 194), ordering him to report at ifestwood and Santa lonica Boulevards at 7:00 A.lM., February 15, 194. On March 10, 19) a@ letter was directed to the State Director of Selective Service in the Plaza Building, Sacramento 1h, stating as follows: “Above-named registrant was sent an order to report for pre- iaduction physical examination on February 15, 1%4. At the time that it was sent he was in New York and he did not receive it in time to take the examination, "Registrant became 38 on the 28th day of February, 194. In view of the fact that he was not yet 38 when he was classified I-A and also that he is employed as an investment broker, the Board respectfully requests that a waiver of the age limit be granted in his case in order that he may be sent an order to _ report for pre-induotion physical examination and hb pd into the Armed Forces.”
