Qo investigation with the Trial Judges I potnted out to Mr. - Olney that the reason for the quote around the word "undermine" in sur memorandum to the Department was that it was the word used by the USA; that had the FBI sought to charge the USA with an attempt to undermine the Judge, there wailed have been no quotes Ground the word “undermine.” Mr. Olney stated that the entire matter ts very clear to him and that during the pertod of time after! had returned to his office, he had already straightened out his People on this situation. As regards th matter, I pointed out to Ur. Olney, as was reflected in the memorandum of Mr. Pric Mr Rosen, November 26, 1954, that Special ‘oor: aii : Our week-end duty supervisor, in reo iving the complaint from and after advising pe Ae the FBI was not in @ position to afford him protection and it would not be possible ,for the FEI to tap his line, further advised thet he should [pestetonsi’ contact the Bureau should he evelop any pe dditional information which he believes to be Pertinent. I pointed out to Mr. Olney that this would certainly not indicate any indifference. . . - I then informed Ur. Oiney that ¥r. *interrowd had alked to Davia Luce, Executive Assistant to Olney, on November 26, 1954, and that linterrowd had Pointed out to Mr. Luce that in he absence of any further information in addition to that already ~~ furnished by othing cculd be done by the Bureau at this tine, but that should furnish any pertinent infornation \ov that he might receive in this matter in the future." I pointed out to lr. Glney that that again would fatl to reflect an attitude of indifference. Olney stated that apparen our ‘eelings in the matter had not gotten ccross a Ur. Olney stated, however, thet after discussing the matter with me, he. was now in a posttion to clearly indicate to that the FBI was not at all indifferent to Olney \pe stated that he would get his people straightened out on both ‘the Anastasio and aioe and was very pleased thct he had had thts discussion with me, since the matter was now completely resolved. I asked Mr. Olney if there were any further Questions in his mind concerning either of these incidents and if he felt that he would like to discuss then any further. Mr. Olney stated that they vere both handled to his complete satisfactt: \ ong that he would appreciate the matter being dropped at this point. \jHe stated that he, of course, was desirous that this entire ° \ matter be considered an informal matter.
