The Washington Times Nerald of April 19, 1949, carried an
article entitled "ferris Parley Aimed at US, Say Probers", This article
stated in part that the House Un-American Activities Committee said
on the previous day that the Communists had engineered the Paris Peace
Conference to stir atomic and other scientists to disotey their govern~
ments.
The article stated further that the Committee accentuated
the "Civil Disobedience" angie at the New York meeting, saying:
"It is by ne means accidental that Richard Royer's appeal
for Vivil Disobedience’ was directed te an audience which included
the following atomic scientists:
“Harlow Stapley, of Harvard liniversity...,and Albert Sins tein,
Princeton". ‘ .
