i “The Tings Herald" of February 6, 1950 carried an
art{cle entitled "Fuchs Has Been 4 Red Since College Days,
His*Father Uiacloze:". This article stated in part tuat
seventy five year old Professor il Fuchs, father cf Dr. Klaus
BHmil Fuchs, declared thet his & an born son was interned in
Canada as a enemy alien during the war and asserted he was
released on the recommendation of Professor Albert Einstein
who did not know he was a Communist.
This article stated further that Professor Fuchs
said that Professor Einstein after reading the younger Fuchst
papers on Muclear energy, considered him valuable to the allied
war effort,
This article stated further that Professor Einstein's
secretory Helene Dukas, said neither she nor the scientist had
“any recollection" of the case.
