action to end lynching. This circuler bore the signatures of individuals
who it stated were "morally indignant over this lawless violence

The Fhiledelphia Inquirer, a Fhiladelphia, Pas daily newspaper,
dated 9/23/46, contained »n article which stated EINSTEIN wrote-a
letter to then President H‘PRY S. TRUMAN assailing lynching. This
letter was to be delivered to President TRUMAN by a group of me
headed by TA", ROBESON, Chairman of the 19EL. 2.L4

The "Peoples Voice"! dated 10/5/46, Page 17, contained an
article relative to the ACEL st Washington, D.C. This article stated
in part that EINSTLIN end PAUL ROBESON vere co-chairmen of the ACEL.
It is noted that the People's Voice has been cited by the
California Comaitsee on Un-fnericen Activities, Repsrt 1948,
Page 225, aS amoug publications which the Committee found “te
