APTENDIX e” COMMUNIST INPILURATION OF THE FIRST UNITARIAN CHURCH FOF LOS ACELES, 2936 West Eighth Street, Los vAngcles, California See SS - An informant advised on June 18, 1958, that mectings of Cemnunists and Communist sympathizers have been held on the premises of the First Unitarian Church of Los Angeles for a nusber or years and particularly since STEPIEN H, PRITCIM“AN became minister of the church in 1948. Communist causes have been expounded frem the pulpit, with speeches and lectures consistentiy Yollowing the Party line. Known Communists and Communist sympathizers appear at the church 5 lecturers or entertainers from time to time. Comnumist front proun literature is available at the church literature table. Known Communists have been and are on the Board of Trustees and in the church membership, and these persons dominate the church activities, Adjuncts of the First Unitarian Church of Los Anzeles, such as the Unitarian Fellowship for Social Justice ana the Unitarian Public Forum, are at the same time and in the sane manner Communist infiltrated and dominated. Reverend STEPHEN H, FPRITCHMAN 418 described in the Fourth Report, Un-American Activities Committee in California, 1943, nave 115, asa very active “Communist fronter" and eorneeea with numerous “Co; mmunist front organizations and actly . vice.” Membership in the First Unitarian Church docs not of jtseif connote membership in or sympatny with the Comminist party.
