CAL L "ro Fic Pron) Since September 8, 1965, 3500 farm worker families in Delano, California, have been on strike to get for themselves these things other workers are legally guaranteed: the right to orgahize into a union and to bargain collectively, the right to a living wage, the right to humane working condi- tions i a the right to dignity on the jo. 4 DiGiorgio Corporation, which last year grossed $231,800,000, which owns 4600 acres in the strike zone (and More than 26,000 acres all together), which has four dir- ectors on the board of the huge B ank of America, and whose wide-ranging corporate interests make it truly an economic octopus, is being challenged by its field workers, whose only power is their unity of purpose and strength of deter- mination, and whose only weapon is their non-violent strixe. THEY NEED YOUR HELP! A nation-wide boycott is being conducted against DiGiorgio products. S & W Foods warehouses are being closed down in California and New England by large groups of pickets with the suppa't of Teamsters' unions. The midwest distribution center for DiGiorgio products * is here in Chicago. It is crucial that it be closed down temporarily to show DiGicrgio the strength of supp@t for the strike. The Teamsters have indicated willingness to respect picket lines at the warehcuse. Whether they do or not may be contingent upon the force of our picket line. The warehouse is located at 3350 N. Kedzie, one block north of Belmont and the JFK Expresswey. On Monday, May 23, 1966, at 7:00 AM, people from all parts of the city will meet at the S & W warehouse for a mass demonstration-picket.
