But the communists insist that all phases of their war being waged against the noncommunist world-- including class warfare--must continue unabated until the communist version of peace is established by the complete triumph of cormmunism. Tactical Advantages Today, the tactic of peaceful coexistence continues to give the communists the initiative and the advantage in identifying international peace with their cause. The free world must act to seize the initiative in this area and to dispel the illusion which the communists have deliberately created. Through the tactic of peaceful coexistence, the communists have succeeded in placing peace on the level of conflict. It is incumbent upon the United States to cope with this communist tactic by effectively distinguishing it from genuine efforts at international peace and at the same time by asserting United States leadership of the noncommunist world in the pursuit of effective world peace. Government sponsorship of the Free World Conference for Peace could be a big step towards achieving these aims.
