Baldwin, retired income tex inspector, testified thet Zwilimen
offered $300,000 to the New Jersey gubernatorial campaign of
Democratic Stete Senater Elmer Wene in 1949 in return for
protection {f Wene was slested. At the time this testimony
was given, Zwillman wes evading aubpoena servers.
It was reported in the "New York Times” of
August 13, 1951, that Zwillman hed left the yacht “Howdy
Podner"™ at Marbleheed, Massachusetts, to evede subpoene ;
