PETER BENENSON, 1304 Josephine Street,
Berkeley, California, was reinterviewed and furnished
the following information, recounting the events on .
the night of February 4, 1974. It is noted that,
during most of the interview, BENENSON was driven to
various pertinent locations in Berkeley, including
the area where he went jogging, his residence at 1304
‘Josephine Street, 2603 Benvenue Street, -and the vicinity
of Tanglewood and Garber Streets. |
BENENSON ‘left his employment at the Lawrence -
Berkeley Laboratory (LBL), Berkeley, at approximately
6:20 p.m. He proceeded in his car, a 1963, two-door,
convertible, Chevrolet, to the Strawberry Canyon area
of Berkeley for the purpose of jogging for exercise.
BENENSON recalled that he probably changed into his
jogging clothes upon arriving at the Strawberry Canyon
location, but stated it was possible he changed ina = .°---)
bathroom at the LBL. BENENSON noted that he did some
jogging for periods averaging 45 minutes a day, approxi-
mately five days a week. His normal routine was to ex-
ercise in this manner just before dark.
BENENSON described thr route he took to Strawberry
Canyon upon leaving the LBL on the evening of February 4,
1974. He proceeded in his car west on Hearst Street, south |
on La Loma Street, east on Rimway to Panoramic Way. He
then continued on Panoramic Way which is a very winding
road and also is known in a section as. Dwight Way winding ;
up to the intersection of Panoramic Way and Panoramic Place. —
BENENSON recalled parking his car on Panoramic Place just
north of the above intersection. He estimated that the |
trip from the LBL to that location took approximately 10 to
15 minutes.
