Director Sec'y My memorandum of March 1, 1974, captioned as above, acvised of a call by Ambassador Hoffacker, Working Group, Cabinet Committee to Combat Terrorism, regarding request for a discussion by various individuals concerning contingencies that might occur in the Hearst kidnaping, Memorandum noted that Ambassador Iloffacker had been in contact with Jeff Shepphard, White House representative with the Working Group, . Ambassador Hoffacker contacted me the evening of March 1, 1974, and stated that Mr. Shepphard had amlled back and advised that the White House position was that they are. more than satisfiec with the FBI handling of this matter and thought that it should be left as it is, They felt that the ? FBI would be aware of any terrorist involvement and yas ‘. capable cf handling any contingencies of this type.
