The mutilated lead fracments dn specimens Q10 and 012
bear no marks of value for identification purposes. Specimen
013 consists of a metal fragment which does not appear to be
part of a bullet.
Ho residues of cyanide were found on specimens @8
through 914. .
Inasmuch as .380 Auto and 9m cartridge nomenclature |
can be confusing, the following information is being furnished.
The Smm Luger (Qmm Parabellum) cartridce cannot he fired in
6380 Aute (9mm Short, 9rm Corto or 9nm Kurz) weapons inasmuch
as the Smm Luger cartridee is longer than the .230 Auto cartridce.
Although the .380 Auto cartridge can be fired in some 9mm Luger
caliber weapons, malfunctions often occur in that the automatic
extraction of the fired cartridge case and charbering of a
new cartricége is hampered by the lesser recoil energy of the _
380 Auto cartridge. .
Specimen. 04 consists of a seqment of braided white

of the G3 length of cord which is constructed in the same fashion
as the loon on 94 and with the sare type of marline twine. The
torn ond of the piece of black plastic tape on specinen 04
matches the torn end of the piece of black plastic tape on Q3.
hecordingly, the tape on Q3 was once attached to and torn from
the tape on the particular segment of cord in specimen 04.
_. @he second segment of cord in specimen 04 is 3/16"
diameter braided white nylon cord with a 4-ply nylon core and is
not like the Q3 cord. A loop on one end of this scament of
cord is gonstructed in a similar fashion as the loop on
specimen’Q3; however, black marline twine is used rather than
brown marline twine. The torn ends of the 3/4" wice black plasti:
tape do not match the ends of the tape on Q3 or the other cord in
Q4..,,0n the free end of this cord is a Stevedore's knot.
The use of marline twine as on specimens Q3 and Q4 anc
the manner in which the Stevedore's knot on one of the 04 lengths
