A radio check of California license number 463 GMO
and temporary license 5406394 revealed that those numbers
are vesistered to a 1964 Volkswagen van, Vehicle Identification
Nunber (V1IK} 1211671. This vehicle. was sold on April 17, 1974,
and no further information was available.
_A radio check of California license number 84650V
reveoled that number is registered to a 1966 Chevrolet van,
VIN GI266P107215. This vehicle was sold on April 20, 1974,
and no further infomation was available.
Several trips were made by TA~1 through the 800
block of West 84th Street, adjacent alleys, and surrounding
neighborhood between 9:45 and 10:45 p.m., in a search for the
1963 light blue Chevrolet station Wagon bearing California
license GOE 575 without sighting i
ADIC SULLIVAN, SAC LINBERG, and Supervison@jaeemee
returned to the command post at Crenshaw and Imperial about
17:00 pam., where ADIC SULLIVAN consulted with Chief of Police
JAY KX. SPROH, Inglewood, California, LAFD, and Los Angeles
County Sheriff's Officers end FRI Agents. It was agrecd that
because of the reputation of the neighborhood in the vicinity
of 845 West 84th Street, which, cccording to local police
officers, was lnovn to be inhabited by criminals, prostitutes,
narcotics peddlers, and bigbly transient individuals that no
neighborhood investigation should be made until daylight.
At 4:30 a.m., Nay 17, 1974, a briefing session was
hela at the Inclewood Police Department (IPB) by ADIC SULL LIVAL ,
assisted by SAC LINBERG and Supervisor SRRe Me aap a cee
Present were representatives of the LAPD, Los
Office (LASO), IPD, as vell as members of the FBI and LAPD
Special Weapons and Tactics Teams (SWAT). Based on available
information, it appeared that as many as nine Symbionese
Liberation Arniy (SLA) members being sought by the FBI and
other Jaw enforcement agencies were possibly located in the
vicinity of 35 Vest 84th Gtrect where the 1970 Volkswagen
van had been ticketed on May 13, 1974. It vas agreed that a
joint FBI and LAD SWAT Team operation should be carried out
in fhut area besinning at 6:30 a.m., which would be daylight
andgall participants would assemble at a conwand post at the;
