Adams memorandum to Mr. Gebhardt dated July 25, 1974, captioned "SLA Shoot-out." , A chronology of events depicting the circumstances “|/ b and extent of FBI involvement in the shooting incident which occurred on May 17, 1974, at 1466 East 54th Street, Los Angeles, California, between members of the Los Angeles - Police Department (LAPD), Special Agents of the FBI, and individuals of the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) is set forth: . yew On May 17, 1974, at approximately 2:00 pm the ae advised the Los Angeles Office (LAO) that 2 suspected>SLA (\ \ vans bearing California licenses 463-GMO and 846-50V-had + fil been located behind the residence at 1451 East 53rd Street. v This LAPD notification was in response to an All Points A Buljetin (APB) initiated by the LAO earlier that day at Alt - 9:30 am when investigation focused upon the 2 vans as suspected SLA vehicles. The vans had been observed by FBI Agents at approximately 11:00 pm on May 16, 1974, in the - vicinity of 833 West 84th Street which was subsequently jdentified as an SLA pad on May 17, 1974. From this point - on, the LAPD staked out the vans while joint FBI/LAPD operations were being coordinated. The events which follow all occurred on May 17, 1974: | PEC 2 Z- (427 CP — 3/8 . At approximately 3:00 pm, an individual telephoni contacted LAO and advised that a group of blacks and whites, one of whom this person believed to be Patricia Hearst, were in the residence located at 1462 East 54th Street.
