"We have ways of getting the money”. stated that bo ow
they wo ve to take him into court to get the money
back. G50 he went into the house and noted
evidence of damage to his house. Heavy plywood had been
‘nailed over the kitchen window, as well as over the glass
in the front door. He further noted that heavy spikes had
been driven through the rear kitchen door which leads down
a stairway to the ground level. He additionally noted
other damage and nails driven t ugh a door leading to
the ground level garage. When brought the damage
to the attention of JAMES and LAWRENCE, one of them made
up some excuse to which he does not now recall. He advised
. JAMES and LAWRENCR that if he could rent the apartment soon,
h uld return the remaining $175 for the month of February.

San Francisco, Examiner” and "San Francisco Chronicle"
listing the house. .

a Negro female youth who lives in the
yo jSan rahcisco. decided for some reason or
another’ not to take the house after she had rented it. Her
money was then returned. stated LAWRENCE and JAMES
constantly were calling him on the telephone (no indication
made from a pay telephone) to determine if they were going
to get their money back. They accused him of not attempting
to rent the apartment to which he brought their attention
to the newspaper ads. He stated he attempted to obtain a
telephone number or a forwarding address from the girls, but
they declined to furnish it.
GEES .:.::-: that on or about February i3, 1974,
he received a call from JOANNE JAMES, who made arrangements
to meet him in front of the 514 Winchester address at 2:00
p.m. in the afternoon. When he met her, he noted she was
again walking from Crocker Street from the direction of Mission
Street. She was by herself, and she advised that LAWRENCE
had returned "Back Fast". Upon learning that the 514
Winchester apartment had not been rented, she demanded the
key to the house be returned to her. She indicated that she
gal possession of the house until March 13, 1974. }
subsequently returned the key to her and left.
