Gl: additional trips back to the apartmen uring the week of January 14, 1974. He advised that every time LAWRENCE answered the door after loud banging on the door, on each day thereafter, LAWRENCE would finally permit him to enter. He stated that LAWRENCE would always try to see if ould let it go until later of if it was necessary that it be done, would it be possible for the boyfriend to do the repairs. QM refused and conducted the repairs and as stated previcusly, LAWRENCE seemed extremely nervous with his presence. He further noticed on these days that JOANNE JAMES was not present. He assumed that she was out working as a substitute teacher as she advised him the day they rented the apartment. — advised that during the following week, he went to the apartment at 514 Winchester Drive and noticed it was apparent to him that the girls had moved out but had left some of their belongings. Shortly there- ~- after (date not recalled), he received a call from one of the females requesting that he meet them in front of the 514 aa: Drive apartment at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon. When et the girls, he noticed that they were walking from Crocker Street from the direction of Mission Street turning onto Winchester toward the apartment where he had = been waiting for them. He stated that the girls informed him that they were going to have to give up the house. LAWRENCE indicated that her mother, who lived "Back East", was very sick, and that she would have to move to her mother's home. ' Phe two females requested a Ae the $175 for the last month's rent. 1en reminded them, | of the 30-day notice agreement, and that the notice would go weeks into the second month, therefore, he would not b able to return their money unless he could rent the apart ment.
