Peters manufacture which have been loaded with 115-grain,.
copper-jacketed, hollow-point bullets. A nurber of these
cartridges bear mechanism marks which suggest they have been
loaced and extracted from a weapon(s). ‘These marks are of possible
-value for comparison and identification with suspect woepons.
Cartridges of this type can be chamicred and fired in semiautomatic
pistols and other automatic and semiautomatic weapons,
~ The hollov points of cartridces selected at random
from Ql along with Q2, were foind to contain crystalline
potassium cyanide sealed in the hollow points by a layer of -
paraffin. Co.
The hollow points of these cartridges do not appear to
have heen substantially enlarsed. However, the possibility exists
that some of the hollow points were slightly enlarged using a.
a@rill. of approximately 1/8 inch diarneter,
It 4s noted that the Q1 box bears an Interarms
Alexandria. Virginia lahel. The twenty-five cartridges found du
this box were probably not. purchased in this box, which would
‘have originally contained 9mm Luger (8mm Parabellum) cartridges
loaded with full copper-jacketed bullets. Cartridges marketed
“in this type of box usually bear a "“vFrr* headstamp, which indicates
they were manufactured by the LAPUA! PATROUNATEMDAS, Lapua, Pinlanc
Inked numbers and letters present on the bottom of this box are
‘placed there by the manufacturer and have no significance to
Intenarms, who-is the United States importer and distributor.
Therefore, a trace of this ammunition based on these numbers
does not appear to be feasible.
“A microscopic comparison was made of the mechanism
“farks on the twenty-five cartridges, Q1 and 92, with the
mechanism marks present on the thirty test cartridges, Kl and
K3, which were loaded into and extracted from the 9mm Luaer
(9nm Parabellum) J and R Engineering Corpany carbine, Model 4-68,
Serial Humber 03304. Nothing was found to indicate the Ql and
Q2 cartridges were loaded into and extracted from this weapon.
