students spent the month of July in hard manuel labor and intensive
atudy in the social and economic problems. The morning was devoted
to manual labor, the afternoon to a study program of the mountein
cunmunity which provided the material for a careful study for the
major problems of the South. Field trips were made to a TVA dan,
a national forest, a textile center in Alabama, a Federal home-
eteed project, and a blast furnace. Evenings were spent in folk
dancing and singing. FRAN » Swarthmore College, LEONE REIBER,
Veesar College, and HOWARDJSAMULLY, Cornell University, particular-
ly preiged the work of this work camp.

Twenty-three boys and girls between the ages of

NURSLRY SCHOOL
The Nursery School was opened May 12, 1940 and Was
conducted through Christmee of 1°41 under the direction of JOAT, (PAYIL,
of Pleastntville, New York, a cenior at Sareh Lawrence College. Miés
