He added that while undoubtedly the inmates who were questioned realized he was an FBI Agent, he was not introduced as such, and no mention was made to HISS by him or anyone else in his presence that he was with the FBI. He continued that following his three or four questions to HISS and the others, he then asked the Warden and AssQciate Warden if they had any further questions to ask, and that his best recollection is that they seldom did. In answer to questions as to his knowledge of interviews recently conducted of HISS by representatives of other agencies, GAMBLIN stated he knew of none with the possible exception that within the past several days, the Sunbury Daily Item newspaper carried a story which gave the impression a representative of the Government, possibly of Civil Service, had interviewed HISS concerning the controversy over his Government pension, I asked GAMBLIN to immediately obtain a copy of the newspaper and phone in the quotation from it. At 12:10 p.m., the above information was furnished Inspector HENNRICH and I advised him that when I had the text of the article in the Sunbury Item concerning the apparent interview of HISS by a Civil Service representative, I would call and give him the text.
