ALGER HISS PERJURY | The following article regarding HISS was contained in the Sunbury Daily Item, published at Sunbury, Pa., ard datelined 6/22/5h:s 4s "GOVERNMENT FOR PENSIONING HISS IN SPITE OF FOES" | '"eisenhower Administration Opposed to Moves Pending in Congress For Starting Annuities to Traitor" "Washington, A. F. The Eisenhower Administration today opposed Genying government retirement pay to ALGER HISS or any convict who became entitled to it as a Federal employee. "Phe Administration's stand surprised many Congress members. Representative CIAREY (R - Mich.) said he was *tshocked, aghast, and boiling mad. "The Administration's position was stated by the Bureau of the Budget, which customarily speaks for the President and the Civil Service Commission to a House Civil Service Commission Sub-Committee. "The Sub-Committee is considering bills applied to it specifically and generally to all Federal workers convicted of felonies or moral tur- pitude. "HISS, former State Department official, convicted of lying when he denied giving secret government documents to a pre-orld War II Comnu- nist spy ring, was_ invited to state his view on the proposal to take away his ‘Pension.
