such statement to these men, . Mr. ‘Falsetti was? pretty 4 sore
about this, I dont remember who else was present at
continued the time Falsetti made this statement.
"T remember the attempt to seopen the mine in Sept. of 1937, x
belive that I read in the paper that the mine was to be recvened at that
time. On the morring the mine was reopened the officers from both locai
unions were there. Mr. Falsetti stated he wanted 50 men to go to work.
When Progressive men woulec come up to go dovn to work_ kr. Falsetti_ would
shake his head and not let them work, I dout remember anybody gving to
work that morning. I do know that the arming we started picketing no one ~
went to work. I remember some of th:se wo were there that moming among
them "Sammy", Andy Schrovelizus, Domoric Fasqusle, Cotton Ananias, Charles
Bohanon and James Hale. I wis at the cine wost of the time during the picket-
ing, I looked after the nedical supplies. There was no regular meeting
held the. boys just met and szid that if they conldn‘t go down__ wasn't
nobody going dam. I u lieve thet the pickctang started the same morning
that they tried to over the mine. I never Feard of there being any thugs
brought in to help in this picketing. some of the fellows had men from the
other mines come and’ visit then this was during the day and these men took
no active pert. The men were just there to protect there jobs and were ready
to go to work at any time. I was there then the Marshall came out to tell
the men to leave the mine. When the Mazsh2ll came dut the union officers
ran like sheep and the committeemen also left, I called the men together
and the Marshall addressed the men he read the injunction and pinned
it up. One of the mn jumped up and Said we didn't have to leave, I asked
him how long he would give us to leave the mine this was about 7 pm,
the Marshall said he couldn't say how long he cculd give us but that he
was going to be a very busy man until 12.30 am, J told the men that I
didn't knowwhat they were going to do but I was leaving after some discussion
most of the men decided to de the same some of them said something about
breaking windows and such, but I told them not to do that. Later]
came out anc he told the men that I had told them right end that he would
