They revealed identity of the prisoner for the first time here, aithoush they were stopped by officers at Little Rock following e report from Hot Springs that three men had kidnapped a man known there as *Doc.* The agents left their automobile here and boarded a train for Leevenworth shortly after their arrival here from Little Rock tonight, in an effort, they esid, to belk a possible attempt et rescue by Nash's confederates. Nash was heavily canacied and the agents were armed with rifles. The secret service men refused to discuss details of how Nesh was trailed to Hot Springa. They eaid they "*kidnapped* hig because of the danger of a clash with Neah’s men in making an open capture. It was indicated wy the agents had been *ahadowing® Kash for sore time, weiting for an opportunity to capture him when ke was alonge ressl@ ad It is noted that the above messages were quoted as they appear on the record st Fort Smith. Mr. Secrest advised that the three messages went to the Associated Press at Littie Rock and Hot Springs, Arkansas, 4 messege ae follows: "messege oc for kx: FYI, Frank Neeh and agents are on Missouri Pecific train arriving et KX at 7:15 in mornings, FS RES1O;5P bad waa sent to the Associated Prees at Kensas City through Oklahoma City, where it was re-transmitted. It ia not known whether this message would be received at Hot Springs or other points. It ia noted that it has been ported thet the newspaper office at Eot Springs, Arkansas, is closely onnected with the city officials, and thet information received by § < ssociated Presa or otherwise isa available to the Fot Springs Police Departe Ment. It was also noted that Agents wore advised at Fort Snith that the Associated Presa will inform individuals requesting information concern~ — ing a matter of eny information which they have received, It accordingly seemed desirable to determine from the records of the Associated Press at Eot Springs what measages were received cone cerning thia matter, the time of their receipt, and whether this inform~ =» BS = a ne
