J. H. Stonebridge, Assistant Menager of the Corn
Exchenge Bank, 72nd Street and Columbus Avenue, Hew York City, was
interviewed with respect to the bank account carried by Mra. Betty
Buchaiter in that institution. It was learned thet Mrs. Buchalter,
under the name B. L. Buchelter opened e checking account during the
forepart of 1932, giving her address et that time es 115 Central
Perk West. The records of the bank indicate that thie account hes
been cerried along until the present times that the lest activity
in the account wes a withdrewal unter dete of July 11, 1933 of $250
by check made out to Mark A. Flaherty, Inc. in payment of rent. The
present balance of this account ie $4.12. It was learned from Mr.
Stonebridge thet Mrs. Buchalter has been in the habit of salling
perechally et the bank for statements; that she lest secured such a
atetement on June SO, 1955 but thet on July 12, 1933 she called at
the bank end esked to have the statement mefled to her at 115 Central
Park West, which was done on the following day. The address and
telephone number of the New York office were furnished to Mr. Stonebridge
as Well as the name of the writer end Special agent &. FP. Guinsane and
he promised to edvicse the NewYork office immediately of any ectivity
in this account.
On the morning of dugust 10, 1933 agent O*Lesry called
telephone number Endicott 2-0669 end was connected with the special
operstor, who esked if agent were calling P. Buchbalter, end upon being
informed in the affirmetive, ateted that telephone Endicott 2-0669 had
been discontinueé and that ehe had no further information on thet number.
My. Enight of the Legel Department of the New York
Telephone Company, was contacted relative to the eccount of P. Buchalter,
Endicott 82-0669 end informed thet the records of the telephone company
indicated that the service hed been discontinued and thet the company
had been directed to forward a bill to 149 West 47th Street, New York
City. Mr. Knicht informed that the bill was in process of being made
up end in all probability would be forwarded within the next two or
three days. Mr. Knight steted thet the records do not indicate that .
e further application for telephone service hes been made by the
Buchalters. ,
Inspector John Lyons, New York Police Department,
Was communicated with on the morning of August 11, 1935, at which time
he eteted thet the woman operative of the Police Department hed called
et the Frances Besuty Salon and in reaponee to inquiry hed been advised
thet no eddress was available for Mra. Betty Buchalter but thet Mra.
Buchalter called at the beauty ehop from time to time and obtained mail
