Refore I coulé get another shot I had to move into the street. -I hesitated to move into the street for the reason that Sergeant Freemuth was in behind me, elso Sergeant Kempster with the machine cun and I did not want to cet in the line of fire of their guns. The reason I helé ‘my fire was that I did not know whether ‘%e was the man or not, so ] gave him @ chance to stop and give up. In the writer's opinion, if Sergeant Freenuth had moved faster we would have taken Miller before he entered the car. Also he withheld his fire too long. There were three or four seconds tine elapsed after Miller fired at me before Freemut: opened fire. Freemuth also had & good target es he was directly behind the car, while my target was moving parallel to me. Sergeant Kempster was delayed in getting out of the lobby and after he got out in the street he saw @ man in the line of fire so he had to withhold fire until he moved out of line.
