Ramificationse of, his Passport Case
The “New York World Telegram and Sun" newspaper,
issue of April 5, 1957, eontained an articie entitled,
"ROBESON'S Passport Czechmated Again?", This article
stated that PAUL ROBESON, holder of a $25,000.00 Stalin
Peace Prize, had made another attempt at obtaining a
passport and apparently would be turned down by the
United States Department of State. It was pointed out
that subject's application for passport had been refused
on four previous occasions. This article further stated
that subject had a case pending before the United States
Tax Court, New York City, concerning the sum of $9,500.00
in income tax the subject had not paid when he received
the $25,000.00 Stalin Peace Prize in 1953.
The “Daily Worker" issue of May 3, 1957, pace Ty»
column 3, contained an article entitied, "British
Actors Union Votes Support For PAUL RORESON.” ‘his
article noted that a demand to allow PAUL ROBESON to sing
in Britain was passed at the annual meeting of Equity~
Organization of British Actors in London on May 2, Aget <|
