Mr. Henry Schwetnhaut of the Departuent called Mies Candy to inquire tf the Bureau would not want te have «@ representative present at a meeting to be held at 2:30 Pa today tn hia office for the purpose of discussing the violent tmpact on criminal law enforcement the decisions tn the MeNabb and Anderaon cases. In reply to my inquiry, Mr. Schweinhaut satd he ts working tndependently of Oscar Cox's people and those of the Solicitor General's office, that, as he sees it, the problem te one for Ais office to think about. I remarked that the Attorney General told the other two offices to go into the matter, and that we sent to the Attorney General a four or five page menmorandus of our views. Mr. Schweinhaut said he would like to have a copy of thie memorandum for his people. He added he does not know what will emerge from this matter, but he feels he cannot att idly by and have the business of his office transacted by someone elee. I advised Mr. Schweinhaut that somebody from the Bureau would come to the meeting in his office this afternoon at See 2:30 PM.
