This informant also advised on 1/3/56 that the
CP in connection with its exploitation of the Negro question,
the Till case, et cetera, as well as its work within the
NAACP attempted to expand the original purpose of tne
conference or “March on Washington" and to give it a new
and broader character by bringing into sponsorship or
endorsement other “mass organizations" thus generally
guiding and expanding the original purposes of the 1

according to this informant what is being done now in
reference to the conference is being done to a great
extent by CF, people in NAACP and non~Party people in
NAACP who knowingly or unknowingly are carrying the
flag for the Civil Rights Program of the CP under the name of
the NAACP,
A reliable confidential informant of the Dallas
Office advised on 1/22/55 that Ed Strong previously mentioned
had been in contact with Mrs. Juanita Craft, Texas State
Organizer for the NAACP. Strong said he checked with
Craft regarding integration problems and indicated he would
write an article for "Political Affiars" om the information
he received concerning Mitegration in the South.

a Dr. Flemming yread of the NAACP in Fort Worth, Texas.

On 1/16/56 a reliable informant in Houston, Texas,
advised that Strong had been in that city and had proceeded
to McNair, Texas, to contact Cephus Debose who according to
the informant is a current member of the CF of Texas and is
also secretary of the McNair Branch of the NAACP.

Informant further advised Strong indicated to him that
he, Strong, planned to contact Lulu White at Houston who is
Director of Branches for the NAACP in Texas. In line with Strong's
desire to contact NAACP leaders informant advised Strong indicated
that after leaving Houston he would proceed to Dallas where he
intended to contact 2 individuals who allegedly are NAACP
