The statement further disclosed that once iden-
tities were established everyone was apologetic and no charges
afternoon in a press conference called by CuLveR. The only

He was treated at the Police Clinic.
The Cedar Rapids article further reflected that release
of the incident apparently was triggered by a telephone call
Thursday to the Washington Post. The Post reported that a
woman who refused to identify herself demanded to know why the
newspaper printed a small item about a precinct policeman who
was fined $l5o.oo by a trial board and not a line about a
Senator being arrested out in Number Eight.

E. LEwis, Washington Post staff writer. He recalled that a
rather complete account of all pertinent details appeared in
that article. He stated further that similar data was pub-
lished in the Chicago Tribune and the Des Moines Register on
the same date. He believed the latter two news articles were
based on the Washington Post source.
The above data is being transmitted by mail in view
of information received from the Bureau on 9/2/66 that similar
information had been located through Washington, D. C., sources.
