Mr, Gaston is the owner of the Gaston Motel and he is a wealthy Negro in the Birmingham area, He has not been active in civil rights matters, The facts in this fire bombing were brought to the attention of the Department on September 8, 1963, and no investigation was requested, (6) The Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birpinghan, a large Negro church which has been the center egro demonstrations, was the object of a bombing on September 15, 1963, This is the present bombing in which four Negro children were killed and 16 other persons were injured.
