» The FRI Daily CT Update, which contains a summary of significant ongomig or very recent incidents that may be terrorism related. - The Daily Intelligence Summary, which contains a daily update of significant mtelligence collected concerning terrorist operations. The FBI also established the Terrorist Fmancmg Operations Seation (TFOS), which is devoted entirely to the financial aspects of terrorism invest:gations. TFOS has focused on information sharmg and the abilities of the ITTF s and Crininal faveshgative units in the field to identify, predict, and prevent future criminal enierprises. In cooperation with the financial services mdustry, the FBI has frozen more than $172 million in financial assets from organizations that support terrorism. In early 2002, the FBI created "Flying Squads" to provide rapid, highty mobile support for terrorism investigations around the globe. These teams have expertise iy CT, FISA requirements, foreign languages, and intelligence analysis, as well as specialized knowledge of al Qaeda and famuliarity with the USIC. in Decernber 2092, the FBS established the Communications Exploitation Section, which analyzes terrorist electronic and telephone communications and identifies terrorist associations and networks. The following month, we established the Document Exploitation Una, which identifies and disseminates mntelligence gleaned from mullions of pages of documents and computer data seized overseas by intelligence agencies. Restructuring of CTD Branches In order to unprove our alnlity to address the terrorist threat, CTD has been restructured. The basic siructure and the recent changes designed to make CTD sors effective in this mission follow, CTD is compnsed of three Branches: CT Operations, CT Analysis, and Operational Support. 'T Operations Branch The CT Operations Branch supports, coordinates, and manages terrorism-reiated investigations This Branch is comprised of four sections. > The International Terrorism Operations Section I supports, coordinates, arid provides oversight of FBT international CT operations related to al Qaeda and other Sunn: extremist groups.
