The ional Terrorisrn Operations Sect supports, coordinates, and
provides oversight of PBI international CT operations related to other groups,
such as Enzbailah, HAMAS, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, as well as the terrorist
threat from stale sponsors of terorism.
The Domestic Terrorisnv Weapons of Mass Destruction Operations Sechon
supports, coordinates, and provides oversight of FBI domeshe CT operations,
inchiding anmal nights extremists and eco-terrorists In addition, this Section’s
Special Events Unit plays a mayor role in planning, coordinaung, and managing
support to field offices charged with CT responsibilities for special events such as
the Super Bowl, the Olympic Games, and the Republican and Democratic
Natienal Conventions
The Temorisrs Reports and Requirements Section (TRRS) oversees the
disseminanon of raw intelligence reports and implements policies and procedures
established by the OL. Since its mception in 2002, TRRS has disseminated more
than 2,800 intelligence information reports to members of the intelligence, pohey,
and law enforcement communities. When possible, these reports have been
produced at the unclassified level in to order to allow rapid information sharing
with state and local security enhies
Operational Support Branch
‘The Operational Support Branch is comprised of three sections: National Threat
‘enter Section, CT Operational Response Section, and Terrorist Financing
Operations Section The National Threat Center and CT Operational Response
Sections have been reorganized to better accomplish CTD's mussion.
- The National Threat Ceater Section administers CT Watch, which 1s discussed
above, ¢s well as four other units relating to threat management.
i. The Threat Monitoring Unit (TMU) supports the FBI's operanonal role
in defen United States from the threat of terrorism by receiving, assessing,
and dissemmating threat information end information regarding suspicious
activities in conjunction with FBIHQ, FBI Field Offices, Legats, and the USIC,
Each month, the TMU processes approximately 1,000 threat and suspicious
activity referrals from various federal. state, and local governmental and law
enforcement agencies, ensuring that the appropnate PBI units, JTTFs, and other
government agenctes are expeditiously appnized of the threat information. In
addition, more than 2,700 sigmficant threat and suspicious actwity reports have
heen recorded mto a searchable database of TMU threats.
