yet. fo ike SAC August 20, 1946 matter. We told him that we were interested only in the facts in controversy, and he stated that he did not know completely what those facts were, that it e necessary to review the transcript of the hearing before Comnissioner . at the case apparently would turn on rather technical points, and that pp? it would probably be necessary for his organization to secure technical help in working out their investigation. He said that at this point he was not certain that further investigation would be made or that the CPA would do any~ more about this case, but that he would be able to advise us concerning this on August 20. ; Upon our return to the cisco Office, Special soon telephonically commnicated wi a asked him for the name of - rm. which was pr ing the transcript o e hearing before Commissione At this tim dvised that he did not think he should furnish ua the name of the reporter and did not think that he should furnish us with the transcript inasmuch as their investigation was d whether or not he had gone into the matter with or the CPA who had handled the hearing, and he stated that he efly done so bat that they had not completed the discussion and would not do so in time for us to mest with him at 4 pem» August 19, it having been explained to him that Agent OSTHOLTHOFF desired to catch a 5 o'clock plane rather than wait over until the following day. Qu August 20, AB ne tho writer had anothe at which there was also presen or the CPA wno handled the hearing on poe th behalf o CPA before Commissioner This conference was held in the poe or the fact that he had no control over ng ta does, thus indicating that he desired that we be furnished all possible information concerning this matter. At this time we again asked o go over the file on the entire Flamingo Hotel matter, and tated that he would not do this because of the fact that the investigation on the part of the CPA was pw still pending; that if we felt his attitude was unreasonable we would have to ” have his superiors in Washington order him to turn over the file to us, We also formally asked him for the name of the court xy who was preparing the tr t of the hesring before Commissions | this was refused Use said that he did not want to furnish this transcript to us because there were several things said at the hearing which were off the record and he wanted to go over those for the comissioner before making any transcript available to us. I cola: we could not understand their attitude, that we were not b? outsiders” nor were we aligned with the respondents in this SOC } oe aati tates ete Re a em ee
